Andy Murray gets a win at rainy Wimbledon, thumbs-up from Roger Federer
On a rainy day at Wimbledon, Roger Federer and Andy Murray provided the highlights. Federer, who holds the record for most men’s Grand Slam titles at the All England Club, was honored with a standing ovation. Later, Murray competed in the first round and was cheered on by the locals. He won in three sets and was pleased with his performance. Carlos Alcaraz, the No. 1 ranked player, also won his match. Unfortunately, Alcaraz did not get to play for Federer, and was a bit jealous. Due to the rain, only 8 of 77 matches were completed. Defending champion Elena Rybakina, 2022 runner-up Ons Jabeur and Australian Open champion Aryna Sabalenka all won, as well as the highest-seeded male British player, No. 12 Cam Norrie. Dan Evans, however, lost his match. The last match to be completed was Tomaacute;s Martin Etcheverry’s comeback from a two-set deficit. Sabalenka expressed her joy at being back at Wimbledon after being banned the previous year.
