Carlos Alcaraz stops Alexander Zverev to set up semi-final of US Open champions

On September 6th in New York.
Carlos Alcaraz and Daniil Medvedev will play against each other in the semi-final of the US Open. This match will have the last two winners of the tournament, as the number one player in the world, defeated Alexander Zverev with a score of 6-3, 6-2, 6-4 on Wednesday.
There were doubts about whether Zverev would be ready to play against Alcaraz, who is full of energy, after Zverev’s really long and difficult match on Monday against Sinner.
The finalist from the 2020 US Open came to compete but quickly ran out of energy. The 12th seeded player couldn’t keep up with Alcaraz as the defending champion sped up and easily won the match.
Alcaraz had only four opportunities to win a game, but he took advantage of all of them. He was playing against a player who was starting to play well again after hurting their ankle last year.
“I still remember when I last played against him in Madrid,” Alcaraz said, referring to the match in May where Zverev lost easily.
I felt upset because we have participated in important games. I feel really happy for him when I see him playing his best in the Grand Slam quarters.
“He was having a difficult time and working very hard to come back to his highest level, and now we can all see him playing his best tennis. ” Medvedev reached the semifinals by defeating eighth seed Andrey Rublev 6-4 6-3 6-4 in extremely hot weather. However, by the time Alcaraz and Zverev played their late match on Arthur Ashe, the harsh conditions had become less intense.
Zverev and Alcaraz were tied in the beginning of the first set, as Zverev’s powerful serve was hitting the target.
Alcaraz took advantage of his one opportunity to break and gain a lead of 5-3. He then held his serve quickly to gain control of the match.
Alcaraz broke Zverev’s resistance and quickly won in the second round. The crowd was thrilled by Alcaraz’s impressive shots and his racquet twirling.
Sure, I’m playing for myself and my team. “But I want to make people have fun watching tennis,” Alcaraz said.
“I am attempting to use various shots in matches that the audience might not be familiar with, such as drop shots and going to the net. ” I always tell people to smile. I believe people also like it. Another pause made the score 5-2, making Alcaraz happy and Zverev needing a break for medical reasons.
He came back for the third round with his groin heavily taped. He fought bravely, but Alcaraz took another lead near the end and won the match. Reuters is a news agency.
