Kohli Rohit out, Tilak in T20I squad for WI series
Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are unlikely to be part of the Indian T20I team anytime soon as they were not included in the 15-member squad, led by Hardik Pandya, for the upcoming five-match series against the West Indies starting August 3. This is the third consecutive T20I series where India will be playing without the two batsmen. The side has a young look to it, with the only player above 30 being Suryakumar Yadav, the world No. 1 T20I batter. The only newcomer is Hyderabad and Mumbai Indians batter Tilak Varma, who had a strong performance in the past two IPL seasons. Yashasvi Jaiswal, who is slated to have his Test debut next week, is also part of the team. Rinku Singh, who impressed with his finishing skills for Kolkata Knight Riders, did not make the cut but he could be included in the squad for the Ireland T20Is. Pacers Avesh Khan and leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi have made their international comebacks.
Meanwhile, members of the Indian cricket team met the legendary Sir Garfield Sobers in Barbados. The team, led by Rohit Sharma, will be playing two Tests in Dominica and Port of Spain beginning July 12, followed by three ODIs and five T20Is. Among those present were Rohit, Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill
