The name is Deepankar Sharda.
Chandigarh on September 6th.
Until May of last year, Gurkirat Singh was an aspiring hockey player in Chandigarh with dreams of representing India. However, his dream was destroyed when his family relocated to the United States last year. However, the 19-year-old has not allowed his passion for the game to fade.
Gurkirat, a striker, played in different club competitions in the US, Canada, and Mexico. Now, he is being considered for the US team in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. “I am part of the group creating the 2028 Olympics,” Gurkirat said.
Gurkirat, who learned at the Chandigarh Hockey Academy (CHA), played for Chandigarh in different national competitions. “The CHA coach, Gurminder Singh, mentioned that he was a member of the Chandigarh team from 2016 to 2022. ”
Gurkirat said that they didn’t plan to move to the USA. My dad, who came to the US in 2016, now lives in Sacramento. Our family has also decided to move there. “It’s been more than a year and I’m still trying to handle things,” he said.
Gurkirat is trying to find a way to manage his time between school, working part-time, and playing hockey. Even though he is very busy, he always makes sure to go to his training sessions and goes to play in club competitions two times every week.
I have been putting a lot of effort into trying to get a chance to play for the US team. I want to play for various clubs so that I can learn more. “I want to play in Europe,” he said.
