Manipur violence: Supreme Court asks state govt to file updated status report; hearing on next Monday

The Supreme Court issued a directive to the Manipur government on Monday to provide an updated report on relief, rehabilitation, and disarmament of armed groups, following allegations of rising ethnic violence in the state. Senior counsel Colin Gonsalves claimed that killings had increased from ten to twenty to one hundred and ten, and that one beheading had taken place. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta interjected, asking Gonsalves to not give the situation a communal angle.
