Spain coach Jorge Vilda fired over kiss furore

Madrid, September 5th
Spain’s football federation (RFEF) fired Jorge Vilda, the coach of the women’s World Cup-winning team, because of the controversy surrounding the president’s kiss on player Jenni Hermoso’s lips, according to a source.
A new group of leaders was created because the FIFA organization suspended RFEF president Luis Rubiales. This happened because he supposedly kissed someone without their permission during a celebration after winning the World Cup two weeks ago. The new group has decided to end Vilda’s agreement, according to a source.
The situation with Rubiales has quickly turned into a big discussion across the country about women’s rights and unfair treatment based on gender.
Vilda, who is a close friend of Rubiales, has been facing criticism since last year. 15 players revolted against him, demanding that he resign because they felt he was not coaching them effectively and they wanted their working conditions to be as good as the men’s team.
Most of the players who were involved were taken out of the team even though some requests were fulfilled. Reuters is a news organization.
